About the Healthy Cities Lab

As cities increasingly feel the effects of climate change, we need better technological solutions to improve environmental resilience. At the Healthy Cities Lab in Indiana University’s School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, we use data science, environmental sensing, and HCI and design methods across various domains such as climate science, public health, and urban design in order to help mitigate the effects of climate change.

Healthy Cities Lab Spotlights

Heat Waves and COVID-19

Dr. Dana Habeeb featured in a Bloomberg Law article on summer heat waves and those most at-risk of COVID-19.

NSF CRII

Dr. Dana Habeeb is awarded the NSF CRII grant for her work on using environmental sensing to understand local heat exposure and response.

Heat wave research highlighted in latest National Climate Assessment

Dr. Habeeb's research on Heat Wave Trends was used as an indicator for the 4th National Climate Assessment Report released by the US Federal Government on November 23, 2018.

Climate Research

Our climate research in conjuction with the EPA includes:

  • Sea Level Rise
  • Heat Waves
  • Human Health Effects
  • Urban Heat Island Effect
